Marathon Memories

On December 12, 2015 I ran my first full marathon. It was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. I was so proud of myself – I had never done something so mentally and physically challenging before. My goal was to finish and that I did! Thank you to all of my family and friends, near and far, for all of your amazing support throughout the unforgettable journey.

Sunday Feels

Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 8.42.06 PMSpring weather and outfits have been top of mind lately. Coats, leggings and boots are starting to get heavy to wear and over worn sweaters definitely need to be cleaned out. Time to start anew!

I planned a trip to Florida at the end of March and an upcoming gals trip to DC in April so that I can start looking forward to a few fun trips. I can’t wait to start whipping out some cute skirts, jean shorts and off the shoulder tops. Off the shoulder tops are something I’ve been currently obsessing over, especially in blue and white. Makeover

If you didn’t catch my big move news, I’ll quickly fill you in. I’m officially moving into my very own place in Astoria… at some point. It didn’t happen in December but It WILL happen this year (keeping my fingers crossed for April)!

The space that I am moving into is a home owned by my family that my grandfather purchased many years ago. It’s a place that’s close to my heart and meaningful to me since it’s the first place my father lived in when he immigrated to the United States from Greece. It’s definitely a special place and area with lots of history and culture that I can’t wait to explore.

There is a ground floor of the home that we have the opportunity to build out into a one bedroom apartment. When this opportunity arose, I saw it as an amazing way to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to essentially “flip” a space from nothing to something great. As the work has started, this has been a much bigger project than I originally anticipated but I’ve been loving every minute of it.

Here are some before shots of what the ground floor looked like when we first started the work. I know what you’re thinking..HOW are we going to turn this into a one bedroom apartment.. well we shall see!

Balsamic Chicken with Roasted Vegetables

FullSizeRender (1)This past long weekend, I did absolutely nothing. I watched a few movies I’ve been meaning to see on Demand (Trainwreck and 99 homes – both very good!), napped a bunch and ran a few errands aka. returned things at Bloomingdales I did not need! Other than that, nothing very interesting happened and let me tell you, it felt really good. Sometimes I have to hold myself back into thinking I need to plan trips, attend events or commit to plans because the truth is, it’s really nice to just do nothing at all.

In order to start this week on a health kick, I tried this recipe and it was SO easy and delicious. All you need are the below ingredients, mix them together, put them in the oven for 30 minutes and you are all set. Here’s to hoping I start cooking just a bit more this year!

Ingredients:

  • 8 (4 oz each) boneless skinless chicken thighs, trimmed of fat
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • fresh black pepper, to taste
  • cooking spray
  • 10 medium asparagus, ends trimmed, cut in half
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 red onions, chopped in large chunks
  • 1/2 cup carrots, sliced in half long, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • 5 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 tbsp dried oregano or thyme
  • 2 leaves fresh sage, chopped

I cherish the moments I have walking to my subway stop just a few blocks from my apartment and hopping off again to walk my fifteen minutes to work. I love this time to myself – in my own thoughts, observing the commuters and listening to the morning city sounds.

2016

As I reflect back on 2015, I’m proud of all that I accomplished. I ran a marathon, I started this blog, I focused on the relationships that mattered most to me, and I was more confident in myself than I’ve ever been before. Thank you for all of your support in 2015 and I hope you keep reading c’est moi natasha in 2016!

Since I love making lists, I wrote down my 2016 resolutions and I thought I’d share them with you. I know that a lot of people don’t love resolutions but personally, I find that writing them down helps me achieve and focus on the important things that are top of mind for me.

As I started making my list, I found that it grew very very long (hey, there’s a lot I want to get done!) but I was able to narrow down my resolutions to the top 10. Here they are! What are yours? I would love to hear what’s top of mind for you this year!

Gift Guide For Her – Part One

I love giving gifts. Every year, my strategy is to 1. tailor what my friends and family would love based on their personality types – are they fashionistas, exercise feins, beauty moguls or a little type A? And 2. Plaid Galore

Apologies for the technical glitches and lack of posts – it’s been an interesting adventure not having access to the site and I have definitely missed my c’est moi natasha world. I really hope you have too!

The holiday season is officially upon us – temperatures are drastically dropping, turkey’s are getting seasoned and twinkling lights are being strung around homes, offices and towns. I am thrilled to be in my hometown of Princeton this week spending time with family and close friends, closing out the fall season together. My mom is hosting her annual Thanksgiving dinner with a whooping 30 people. I can’t wait to share a few recipes and hosting tips I’ve picked up through the years!

Plaid has been recently catching my eye every which way possible. I love the pattern and it’s especially perfect for this time of year. I’ve picked out a few of my absolute favorite looks and as you can probably tell, I see a plaid jacket in my near future “must need” list. What I especially love about Plaid is the versatility of the pieces which make them a closet staple – especially as winter is now upon us brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Spiced Pecan Pumpkin Bread


If there is one place I can spend hours upon hours in it’s William-Sonoma. There are so many cooking contraptions, utensils and recipes scoured all around the store that tend to keep me extremely occupied. I always pick up all sorts of random things and fill my basket up pretty quickly with shenanigans- like a donut pan. Hey, I need to start making those apple cider donuts and I definitely need the donut pan!

There are also so many quick and easy William-Sonoma mixes that never disappoint. I picked up this Spiced Pecan Pumpkin Quick Bread Mix and I couldn’t wait to overwhelm my kitchen with the smell of pumpkin because tis the season! Paired up with the cream cheese frosting recipe on the back of the mix, this Spicy Pumpkin Pecan recipe did not disappoint. If you find yourself at William-Sonoma these next coming weeks, I highly recommend you pick yourself up a quick bread (now 30% off online too), it’s to die for!
