Rompin’ Around

Tonight, is my first night in Greece. I am ecstatic to be here! This trip came at a great time – relaxation is currently much needed. On the agenda for this week is to see my dad’s side of the family, explore a new Island called Ios and host a friend for a weekend who has never been to Greece. All in all, it’s going to be a fabulous week and my pale self will finally get a little color. If you want to follow my trip, be sure to follow me on Instagram! Hope you have a great weekend!

Has there ever been a time in your life where you have felt that everything, and I mean everything, is a priority? And I don’t mean everything on your 9-5 work to do list but rather every aspect of life needs to come first, right now, this instant? I can’t seem to currently figure out what I want/need/what I’m supposed to 100% focus on and dedicate myself to. I want everything to be great, settled and in place.

Marathon training is supposed to come first. My relationship is supposed to come first. My family is supposed to come first. My blog is supposed to come first. And same thing for my friendships and my corporate 9-5 life. I want to focus on all of these things with all of my energy but recently the balance isn’t there. Why is it that everything I value is supposed to come first and why am I putting pressure on myself to feel this way?

Right now more than ever, I have this urge to be perfect at everything I’m doing. I’m typically hard on myself but for some reason, unbeknownst to me, something has hit me where this need for perfection has been amplified by 1000x. I want to do a kick ass job 9-5, I want to be the perfect girlfriend, the perfect daughter, the perfect sister, run a perfect run and I can’t figure out why the sudden need for equal perfection in all aspects of my life.

What would my 30 year old self tell my 25 year old self if it saw me today trying to juggle it all? Maybe I can think of two words… r -e-l-a-x  & r-e-b-o-ot? Who knows,  I guess I’ll figure it out in a few years. So in the meantime, I’m going to Greece on Thursday to just lay on a beach. Maybe I’ll figure it out at that point too.

The best way for me to relax my mind after a busy day is to light up a candle and pour a glass of wine, put my feet up and just totally unwind. I grabbed this amazing scented candle a few months back on my trip to South Carolina and I’ve fallen completely in love with the scent.

Rewined candles are made from wine bottles that have fragrances that mimic the different tastes of red and white wines. Think Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and all of your favorite wines enveloped into a candle scent. It’s a genius idea and I can’t wait to buy more on my next trip. I bought the Pinot Grigio scent and it smells amazing. You can find Rewined candles at small boutiques and online as well! I’d love to get the Rose or champagne flavor next…

What do you do after a long day to relax and unwind?! Would love to hear!

Music Thursday ~ No.10

It has been a LONG time since I’ve posted a Music Thursday series post on the blog. There isn’t any rhyme or reason as to why that is and I actually miss doing it (and I know mama c’est moi misses Music Thursday’s too).  Maybe a part of me subconsciously thought, “does anyone really care about what song I’m into as of late?” but then I took back that thought and threw it out the window. Because who cares! I can post a cool, feel good song on a Thursday if I feel like it, amirite?

Tomorrow is Friday and oh dear I have been wayy looking forward to tomorrow. This week was one of those “feels like a really long week” kind of week. Between corporate life (life is tough!), running (only week 2 of training) and staying social (one dinner date), I am super tired… So here’s to Friday and a weekend full of yummy brunches, hanging with friends and dabbling with a long run!

One thing I’ve always wanted to do is either host or attend a clambake! A good ole fashion New England clambake. It might be something simple that everyone has probably participated in at one point or another, but not me. And I’m jealous. Newspapers lining long wooden tables, unlimited amounts of clams and/or boiled shell food, eating only allowed with ten fingers, and hammering away at anything that needs hammering… it all sounds pretty great to me. Oh and rustic candles & old school Coca-Cola bottles will do as well.

Now that I’ve established that hosting a clambake is on my summer wish list, here are a few other things I want add to that wish list for this 2015 summer:

1. Flying trapeze class as the sun is setting

2. Outdoor movie laying on green grass

3. Solid picnic spread in central park

4. Peaceful rooftop yoga class

5. Fun Boat outing in downtown manhattan

6. Dancing on a beach while the sun is setting (hopefully Greece!)

7. Rent a bicycle and bike around the city

8. Book a spontaneous weekend getaway (Airbnb anyone?)

9. Go to a summer outdoor concert

10. Yankees game – always a must.

What’s on your summer wish list? Would love to hear!

Fringe, fringe, fringe – it’s apparently everywhere! I bought this fringed bucket bag on my trip to France thinking “AH HA an accessory, a bag, a fringe, a color, that no one in New York will have!” And boy was I totally, so very wrong. During my NYC weekend this fourth of July, I saw fringe bags in this exact color EVERYWHERE. I guess it was pretty out there for me to think that I was going to start this new, super cool trend….. but hey maybe I did. Let’s just go with that for now.

Looking Back

{Amazing french desserts presented as soon as I landed in France}

Happy Summer! As July has come around really quickly, it finally feels like summer is here! Everyone seems to be in the mood to run outside, invite people over for BBQs, drink margs on rooftops and lay outside by crystal blue pools in the Hamptons. And it is all a very happy feeling indeed.

This long 4th of July weekend was really great – I explored Manhattan since it was absolutely empty which was heavenly. I was able to get a 7:30 pm reservation at Santina, a new restaurant in the Meat Packing district, where 7:30 pm is a time that usually needs to be reserved months in advance. I’ve been dying to try this new, hip place and let’s just say it was absolutely delicious. I also walked everywhere all weekend which felt amazing and I was able to finish week one of marathon training! Let’s just say July has started off on a very positive note. In just a few short weeks, my big summer trip to Greece is coming up and I am beyond excited. It will be a very interesting atmosphere because of recent political events but nonetheless amazing as it always is.

What did you do this past weekend for the fourth of July? I would love to hear about what you were up to! Here are a few of my favorite Instagram snaps from June – if you don’t follow my adventures yet, be sure to do so @cestmoinatasha on Insta!
